A LIFE WELL LIVED
Mr. James Edward Robinson was welcomed into the world on January 24, 1936, in Prattville, Alabama to Mary Curtis and Arthur Robinson, Sr. His family moved to Montgomery, Alabama where James spent his childhood. He often talked about his many memories of Hunter Station.
At the early age of 18, James relocated to Indianapolis and resided with his sister, Lillie. The two of them shared special times and continued a very close and loving relationship their entire lives.
James (affectionately nicknamed Robby) was a hard worker and always strived to improve himself. He completed high school and attended Ivy Tech School. James worked several jobs but always preferred being outside. James applied for and completed his internship training as a Cement Finisher. He was outstanding at his profession and worked for over 30+ years at his chosen trade before retiring. James was a proud member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Union and recently received a 60-year Gold Member Card.
James loved attending church and professed his belief at an early age. He united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1986. He was a quiet, strong, and honest man who believed strongly in treating every person fairly.
James (Robby) loved life and had a real sense of humor. James enjoyed many fun activities during his life. He truly loved and had a real passion for playing softball and also coached little league. James enjoyed grilling for family and friends and making his special BBQ sauce, listening to music, playing cards, working in his yard and gardening, watching cowboy movies and traveling. Together we visited many places, in and outside of the United States. Our favorite Island/country was Aruba. Our last adventure was a fun train trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, Arizona with several of our friends.
James was a past member of the Masons and Ft. Harrison Elks Lodge 709, where he served as a past state president.
James and Lucille were united in marriage on March 15, 1986, and blended our families as one. We were blessed to enjoy many happy and loving years together. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. James loved his entire family.
James departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 88 with his wife and daughter by his side.
James was preceded in death by his parents Mary Curtis and Arthur Robinson, Sr., his sisters, Susie Mae Robinson, Lillie Mae Robinson and Hattie Robinson, his brothers, Arthur Robinson and Willie Frank Robinson.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Lucille Robinson, a loving daughter Patricia (Leon) Dean, his devoted son, Ronald Webster, his much-loved grandchildren, Michael (Dawn) Dean, Alisha Jessup, Kisha Jones, and Ilya Webster, nine great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends all of whom he loved very much.
Special thanks to his nephews Jessie Robinson, David Burnett and Roger Ball for their special care and support. Also recognition to Harrison Terrace and the Care Hospice Team for their love and support for James.
