James L. 'Jimmy' Bishop Sr.

James Lee Bishop Sr., the son of Fred Bishop and Nila (Sharp) Bishop, was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1950.

Upon his arrival in Indianapolis, James began his employment at Hubert Hunt and Nichols as a construction worker for 14 years. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a Quality Inspector after 40 years of employment.
'Jimmy', as he was affectionately called, had a passion for sports, fishing, repairing vehicles and traveling. He was a Christian man and enjoyed spending time with his family. James will be greatly missed. 'To know him was to love him.'
James Lee Bishop Sr, departed this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his residence at the age of 87 years. His sons, James L. Bishop Jr. and Ronnie Bishop preceded him in death.
He leaves to forever cherish his loving memory to his wife of 34 years, Helena L. Bishop; children: Lucinda Bishop, Larry McBride, Gerald Bishop, Yvonne Anderson, Vickie Bishop, Darrell Bishop, Duane Bishop, Nikki Bannon, Nashaun Bradford and Warner Berry. James also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving family and friends.
