Irene "Tookie" Mitchell

Irene “Tookie” Mitchell was born on January 28, 1969, to Dorothy Mitchell and Steve Mitchell in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tookie received her education through the IPS system. She professed a belief in Christ at an early age at Universal Church. Tookie worked in security for years. She was very dedicated to her job.

Tookie was dearly devoted to her family and looked out for each of them. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Going bowling, skating, listening to music, and dancing were things she enjoyed. Overall, Tookie was a very happy person who loved to laugh and smile. There was never a dull moment when she was around. Her loving smile and laugh will truly be missed.

Tookie departed this life on August 25, 2022, at the age of 53 years old. She was proceeded in death by her sister Annette Griffin (Randy Griffin); her granddaughter, Deszaniya Davidson; and Grandmother, Geneva Bell.

Tookie leaves to cherish her memories, her two daughters, Lakeshia (Cornbread) and Ashley Craig; her grandsons, Da’vontez Craig, Da’von Henderson, Damani Craig, and Lamont Craig; her mother, Dorothy Mitchell (William Hooks); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
