Herman "Dickey" Yarrell, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on April 15, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Mildred L. Yarrell and Simon "Rick" Yarrell, Jr.
After attending and graduating from public schools in Indianapolis, Herman honorably served in the United States Navy as a radioman in 1974 until his discharge. Upon returning home, he dedicated himself to a long and successful career as a machine operator and roofer, first at Sam’s Club Distribution Center for 18+ years and later retiring at Blackmore and Buckner Construction, where he was elated to work alongside his son, Devon, and loving friends. He continued to serve his family and friends in ways that we cannot express our gratitude for.
Herman is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Simon; brother, Billy; and son, Devon Yarrell.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Zerlene Yarrell; daughters, Alicia and Ashley Yarrell; bonus daughters, Denisha and Nate'; brothers and sisters: Richard, Larry, Timothy, Lesley, Linda, and Jeanie; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
Throughout his life, Herman touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor and unwavering dedication and loyalty to his loved ones. May we all continue to reflect on the many good times we have had with Dickey as he was the life of the party and a strong presence in times of need. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him because to know him is to love him. He will always be truly loved and deeply missed.
