Henry C. Tribble

Henry Clarence Tribble, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 16, 2025, of natural causes. He was known for his sharp humor, dedication to justice, and lifelong efforts to improve the lives of others.

Born on January 16, 1942, in Morganfield, Kentucky, Henry was the oldest son of Prewitt Tribble, Jr. and Catherine Sutton Tribble. He graduated from Rosenwald High School in Providence, Kentucky in 1959, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky, and later pursued Urban Planning studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Henry served in the ROTC during college and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1970. A lifelong advocate for civil rights, he participated in sit-ins, the Selma to Montgomery March, and a pivotal workshop in Atlanta that shaped his mission for justice.

His federal career included work at the Department of Justice, investigating civil rights violations in law enforcement. Later, as a real estate professional, he promoted housing equity by increasing mortgage access for low-income families and small businesses. While in Florida, he was active in the NAACP, founded a Unity Council, and served with AmeriCorps VISTA.

Henry enjoyed music, travel, and time with friends. He was an active member of the Chancel Choir at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, a highlight of his later years. He also cherished his relationship with Janet Norris, sharing laughter, music, and adventure.

Henry is survived by his daughters, Hope Camille Tribble and Heather C. Jansky, son-in-law, Todd M. Jansky, brother, Elmer Maurice Tribble, sister-in-law Teresa Tribble, nephew Andre Maurice Tribble, niece, Marisa Celestine Tribble, grand nephews, Christoper, Alexander, and Thomas, and cousin, Sonja Sutton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Christina Tribble, his parents, and his aunt, Celestine Sutton.
