Gladys Marie Jackson, the daughter of Rosie Lee Cox and George Hammonds, was born August 26, 1947 in Moody, Texas.
Gladys moved to Muncie, Indiana when she was 18 years old and attended Ball State University.
She confessed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Him later in life. Gladys was a member of West Side Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael Bryant where she worked with summer lunch programs each year.
Gladys enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. She was always the life of the party, known for her beautiful smile and ability to make anyone laugh.
She retired from Cintas Corporation located in Muncie and moved with her daughter to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2009.
Gladys had a daughter, Jasmine Jackson and a son, Julius Jackson whom she shared with her ex-husband and life time best friend, Julius Lee Jackson.
The Lord called Gladys home on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the age of 74. Her parents, Rosie Cox and George Hammonds; sister, Ora-Lee Anderson; brother, Jordan Hammonds; grandmother, Willie Ervin; and nephews: David Hammonds, Dave Bennett III and Phillip Moore all preceded her in death.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memory to her children, Julius Allen Jackson (Nakia) and Jasmine Jackson-Lewis (Clifford) all of Arlington, Texas; ten grandchildren: Cheyenne Bradham, Dominic Woods, Khamri Woods, Julius Jackson Jr., Clifford Lewis Jr., Jaylen Jackson, Alijah Jackson, Justin Jackson, Alanna Lewis and Kingston Lewis; a sister, Georgia Mae Moore of Noblesville, Indiana; two brothers, George Hammonds Jr. and Walter Ray Hammonds; two very special nieces: Tammy Anderson of Muncie, Indiana and Sandra Stewart of Missouri; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
