George Tandy

Mr. George Tandy, Jr., 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.George was born in Hopkinsville, KY and professed a hope in Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Main Street Baptist Church. In 1946, George and his family moved to Indianapolis where he united with Eastern Star Baptist Church, where he has been a devoted member and trustee for over 50 years. George loved music and was a member of the Harmony Four Quartet and later joined the Eastern Star Male Chorus, which he directed for over 20 yrs. George later became Scout Master for the Eastern Star Boy Scout Troop #429 and he coached a basketball team for the church. He had a hobby of collecting caps, of which he had over 1,000 and you never saw him without a cap on his head!George was employed at Stark & Wetzel Meat Packing Plant for 30 years until closing, and he later worked for Robert James (close friend) and Marsh Groceries, from which he retired in 2007.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7th from 9:30 - 11am at Eastern Star Church 5750 E. 30th Street. Funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.Mr. George Tandy, Jr. is survived by his wife, Juanita Stokes Tandy, sons, Bruce E. and Mark C. Tandy, daughter Regina Humbles, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His son, George Tandy, III. and grandson, Jarrett Tandy preceded him in death.
