Rev. George Edward Poole

The Honorable Pastor George Edward Poole was a man after God’s own heart and was called a faithful servant. George loved his family, church family, friends, and community. He dedicated most of his life serving the people of God for over 32 years with a selfless love that penetrated the hearts of all that encountered his generous spirit.
The Lord said, “my servant, thy laboring here on earth is done, and George went home to be with the Lord August 21, 2021, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, surrounded by his loving wife, Lisa of 13 years, and his family while in the presence of the Most High. George was born November 3, 1953, the third of ten children to the union of McKinley and Annie Poole at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor, MI. George graduated from Benton Harbor High school in 1971 and furthered his education at Aenon Bible College. He worked and retired from Whirlpool Corporation and later held positions at Kalamazoo Probation Enhancement Program (KPEP) residential program for adult offenders. He supervised and counseled inmates into transitioning back into society, and through his ministerial outreach, many received Christ. He worked at Clay High School in South Bend, IN, as a Security Specialist. He also worked alongside his brother as Manager of Kinsey Christian Security LLC.
George accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in Jesus Name and received the gift of the Holy Spirit in 1980. He later began his ministry and served faithfully as an Assistant Pastor to the Late Bishop George Dewberry at Bethlehem Temple Church and Greater Grace Temple for many years. The Lord sent George into the vineyard to pastor the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Buchanan, MI, and Greater Harvest Assembly in South Bend, IN. He completed his servantship at Second Chance Ministry in Indianapolis, IN.
Pastor George Poole was a powerful and anointed preacher and teacher, and he loved studying the Word of God and believed that all things are possible to him that loved Christ Jesus. He served in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Northern District State Council faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop Burrell and served in the A.B.S.A. Council under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Charles A. Sims, Diocesan. He understood the meaning of discipleship to go into the highways and hedges. He taught the ministry teams how to win souls for Christ as he led them to witness and serve in the community. He led various community initiatives, church tent meetings, food banks, and clothing drives, feeding hundreds of children and families. He spearheaded a health initiative to discuss the importance of healthcare through informative workshops.
George was the family Pastor and the family favorite. He was a loving and very kind, spirited, and generous person who lit up the room with his bright smile. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and was always ready for the next family event. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching and inspiring his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the community kids to be their best. George gravitated to many underprivileged youths blessing them with sports attire and providing transportation to their sporting events. He enjoyed fishing, movie night with family, grilling, telling stories, and was a history buff who liked detective movies. George will be greatly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
George was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Donald and Melvin Poole. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lisa Poole of Indianapolis, IN, children Julius Poole of Benton Harbor, Vonetta (Daniel) McGinnis of Benton Harbor, Isaac Poole of Atlanta Georgia, Keianna Poole of Indianapolis, stepchildren Tamara (Adrian) Ferguson of Virginia, Ryan (Shannon) Wagner of Indianapolis, grandchildren Jenyse McGinnis, Trey McGinnis, Trenyse McGinnis, Kenedy Lumpkin, Karisten Poole, Kadence Poole, and Ellyse (Karl) Butler, siblings Mary Washington of Farmington Hills, MI, Kinsey (Yolonda) Poole of Indianapolis, IN, Loretta Poole of Lansing, MI, Dewayne Poole of Indianapolis, IN, Debra Poole of Raleigh, NC, Lucretia (Howard) Ware of Lansing, MI, Erving (Tammie) Poole of Denver, NC. He also leaves an uncle June Swanigan of Inkster, MI, Aunt Lena Swanigan of Benton Harbor, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
