Gail Antionette Rice was born Gail Antionette Dawson on August 5, 1954, in Louisville, KY to Pauline Bell Parmley and Andrew Dawson. She is preceded in death by both parents and daughter Annette Groce.

Gail was the eldest of seven children. She attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from George Washington High School. Furthering her continued education as a beautician, caterer and furniture upholster. She also played the piano, drums and dressed as a clown, entertaining many children.

Gail had a passion for helping others in the community. She was well known as a hairstylist for over thirty plus years. Gail also had a way to people’s hearts through their stomachs by preparing her delicious home cooked meals. Gail also had a passion for singing. She directed many church choirs and lead many songs with her “Beyonce” voice as she would call it!

Gail departed this life Sunday May 7th, 2023, at the age of 68 years old.

Gail leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Nathan L. Rice; daughter, Sheila Spivey; sisters, Linda Sanders (John), Angela Van Cleave, Dejuana Barrett (Paul), Michelle Davidson (Anthony); Brothers, Donald Van Cleave (Teryna) and Gregory Van Cleave; Grandchildren, Marcel Gene Burrell,Jr, Elijah Groce, Terryn and Terrius Anderson; Great Grandchildren; Emery Groce, Marcel Gene Burrell III; Best Friends/Sisters; Beverly Owens and Kendah Bluestein; A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
