Mr. Eric Lamont Johnson, age 49, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Eric was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to George A. 'Boogie' Johnson and Laverna Tolliver. He grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Warren Central High School. After high school, he attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama where he received an Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. Post-graduation, Eric began his career with Ford Motor Company, followed by Visteon Corporation and General Dynamics.
Eric was a true renaissance man. He excelled not only in the appreciation of African Art, witnessed by his vast collection in Egyptian décor and African-American memorabilia, but he was also an exceptional artist himself, witnessed by his stained glass works.
Eric was savvy in community issues and mentored countless young people through the years. Eric was a vocal advocate of social issues and famously expressed his viewpoints to whomever would listen.
Left to cherish Eric's precious memory is his mother, Laverna J. Johnson and a host of family and friends.
Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 11am until 1pm at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals, 5811 E. 38th Street. Funeral service will follow at 1pm. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery on Monday.
