ELZEA ROLLINS JR., the oldest of nine children, was born October 26, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Elzea Rollins Sr. and Elsie Rollins.

Jr. attended several Indianapolis Public Elementary Schools as well as Crispus Attucks High School.  He was married to Barbara Howard and then to Anita Rollins for 31 years.  Jr. was employed by the hospital for several years and then worked for Homer Somerville at Somerville Construction for more than 30 years.

Jr. was an Aerobics Instructor and Arts & Crafts teacher more recently at University Place Apartment Center where he resided.  Later in his life his sister, Willa introduced him to The New Day Pentecostal Church where the Bishop Artie Montgomery Jr. is the Pastor and where he was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.  He later moved his membership to Grace Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Harrison.

There at Grace Apostolic Church, Jr. was a member of the Usher Board were he diligently served before his home going.  He was a fun- loving man and was loved by many.  He loved to fish, cut hair and teach the art class.  And most of all, he enjoyed having fun with his family, his church family and his family and friends at University Place Apartments.

On his hospital bed, Jr. spoke about how he loved the Lord.  And he often said, “I want to go with a smile on my face.”

Elzea Rollins Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the age of 80 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Odessa Rollins and Elaine Yarbrough.

Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: son, Elzea Rollins III (four grandsons and two granddaughters); two brothers, Esque Rollins and Rev. George Yarbrough Jr. (Edith) of Georgia; four sisters: Willa Somerville, Dora Day (Clarence), Dollie Whiteside (Dennis) and Ann Warfield (Mark); special people in his life were his Godchildren, Abrielle and Noelle; special friend and confidant, Homer Somerville; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jr. left this earth in the presence of his niece, Mrs. Santoria Spight.
