The life of Eloise Victoria Goldman began on February 2, 1938 in LaPlace, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Arnold and Oletta Smith.
Eloise accepted Christ at an early age. Her family resided in Norco, Louisiana for many years. Later, the family relocated to Texas City, Texas, where she attended Booker T. Washington School and joined Greater Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church, where she began ministering through song and was often called to sing as a soloist. It was in Texas City where she met the Goldman family, and childhood sweetheart, Maurice. After years of courtship, true love bloomed. On July 18, 1959, she was united in marriage and they remained married for 59 years. They were blessed with four amazing daughters: Glenda, Patricia, Karen and Janna.
The Goldman family, living an active military life, relocated several times settling in Indianapolis, Indiana after Maurice retired from service. They then united with St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. Eloise remained a faithful member for over 40 years, serving as a devoted member, secretary, treasurer, and seamstress for the Chancel Choir.
Eloise was a compassionate, loving and funny individual with a sweet spirit. She worked tirelessly as a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother and gifted seamstress, often creating clothes for herself and her children. Her interests included travel, shopping and watching movies, especially westerns. But most important was her faith in God; every morning she read her Bible.
Eloise lived her later years at American Village Nursing Facility where the residents and staff alike loved her as family.
On Saturday, December 2, 2017, the Lord led Eloise to her new home in Glory. Those who preceded her and awaited her arrival were her parents; brother, Donald Smith; in-laws, Robert Sr. and Ida Goldman; daughter, Karen Mallory and granddaughter, Ambyr Crew.
Left to cherish her memories are her devoted husband, Maurice Goldman; loving children: Glenda Tinsley (Dewayne), Patricia Goldman and Janna Montgomery (Damon); grandchildren: Bryce Stone, Stephanie Tinsley, Samantha Tinsley, Darion Hunter, Jordon Mallory and David Tinsley; four great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Ann Walker Tillman; brother and sisters-in-law: Robert Goldman Jr. (Helen), Mary Johnson and Hazel Haddock (Levi); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed, but we know that she is in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
