Mr. Edward Earl (Paw-Paw) Winters, the first born to Calvinand Clara Doss Winters, was born November 30th, 1922 in IndianapolisIndiana. Edward attended Indianapolis Public Schools and he was a graduate ofCrispus Attucks High School. He enlisted in the U.S Army on February 19th,1943 and received his honorable discharge on April 6th, 1946.Thereafter, he worked for Geupel Demars Construction Company where he servedfor over 50 years. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Elizabeth Thomas onDecember 15th, 1946. To this union were born 2 sons, Earl Howard andLarry Renault Winters, all of which have preceded him in death includinggrandson Benjamin R. Winters. Edward was later united in marriage to Ruby M.Cooper on September 23rd, 1984 and his extended family includedBernie M. Howard, India D. Cooper, Christopher L. Cooper, Claude M. Cooper(Antaya) Allen C. Cooper (Ida) and their children. All who have had the pleasure of knowingPaw-Paw knew his love for family and skating.

Paw-Pawloved to skate! Back in the day, you could find him at Schofield, Rollerland,St. Rita's, and his later years until hanging up his skates, USA East and West.He taught many people here in the city, both young and old, how to skate. Andfor many years, he's been known as, 'King of the Rink!'

Edwardprofessed a hope in Christ early in life and was a faithful servant at MessiahMissionary Baptist Church, Zion Hope Baptist Church and Eastern Star Church ofwhich he was a faithful member for over 20 years.

EdwardEarl Winters departed this life on November 26th, 2016, just 4 daysbefore his 94th birthday. He leaves to cherish his memory of hiswife, Ruby M. Winters; daughter-n-law: Gwendolyn Winters; 2 grandsons: Larry R.Winters Jr. (Jen) and Aaron R. Winters (Dawn); 5 granddaughters: Jennifer Moore(Shawn), Leslie Winters, Tia Winters, Kimberlee Winters and Renata Winters; 2nephews: Charles B. Martin Jr. (Laura) and Curtis B. Martin (Vickie); manygreat grandchildren; There are 2 ladies he thought of as daughters: Gail WalkerJarrett (Daniel) and Genie Blane (James), as well as many other extended familymembers and friends.


A Visitation was held at Eastern Star Church 5750 E. 30th Street Indianapolis IN 46218 at 9:00:00 AM on 12/2/2016.

A Funeral Service was held at Eastern Star Church 5750 E. 30th Street Indianapolis IN 46218 at 11:00:00 AM on 12/2/2016.

A Visitation was held at Lavenia and Summers Home For Funerals 5811 E. 38th Street Indianapolis IN 46218 at 5:30:00 PM on 12/1/2016.
