Mrs. Earlene (Patrick) Walker was born October 26, 1932, to the late Oliver and Callie (Hawkins) Patrick of Forest, Mississippi. To this union 11 children were born.
She graduated from E. T. Hawkins High School, Forest, MS in 1953. She moved to Indianapolis, IN and enrolled and graduated from Beauty College with honors. Earlene was a licensed beautician.
Early in life Earlene professed her belief in Christ and was baptized. One of Earlene’s favorite scriptures was 1 Peter 5:7.
Earlene was introduced to DeWitt Walker by his brother, Sam Walker. DeWitt and Earlene were married on December 19, 1956, and to this union four daughters were born. Earlene joined King Solomon Baptist Church in 1959. Earlene was on the usher board and missionary board for many years. Earlene was a faithful member of the church.
Earlene loved flowers; her favorite was tulips. Earlene spent many hours working in the yard to make sure her flowers were perfect, and they were. Earlene also enjoyed her garden. Earlene was an amazing cook. During the holidays Earlene received many cakes, pies and dinner orders. Earlene was a very kind, loving, caring lady. Earlene was always available for honest, but respectful advice or a delicious hot meal.
Earlene, a loving mother and dedicated wife, passed away peacefully at her home on June 25, 2024, with her daughter, Denise by her side. Her husband, DeWitt Walker; parents, Oliver and Callie (Hawkins) Patrick; two sisters, Georgia Latham and Nolareen Bounds of Forest, MS; four brothers: Percy L. Patrick, Willie J. Patrick, Dolphus Patrick, C. J. Patrick, all of Forest, MS; and son-in-law, Oliver McCray of Indianapolis, IN all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters: Patricia Walker, Brenda Williams (Glen), Ty Wanda McCray and Denise Walker; sisters, Louise Denham (Ray) of Gary, IN and Callie Scott, of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Robert Patrick (Carlene) of Forest, MS and John Luke Patrick (Virginia) of Forest, MS; sisters-in-law, Clara Eldridge, of Indianapolis, IN and Fannie Walker of Indianapolis, IN; best friend, Mrs. Doris Allen, of Indianapolis, IN; a host of loving family and friends.
Momma, we loved you in the morning, we loved you at noon, we loved you in the evening and all night through.
