Mrs. Dorothy Jean Hobson, age 72, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016.Dorothy, affectionately called 'Dot' and 'Grannie' by family and friends, received her primay education through Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from the Historic Crispus Attucks High School. Shortly after high school, Dorothy entered the workforce and was employed in a variety of occupations. She retired from Social Security Administration in 2007.Dot professed her love and life to Jesus Christ and joined Greater Progressive Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board until her illness. She had a love for bowling which progressed to a professional level. Dot was also an avid card player, video gamer, bingo player and an expert of crossword puzzles. But, her favorite pastime was spent with her family and friends. Dorothy was united in holy matrimony in 1960 to Willie Bailey, Sr. This union was blessed with six unique children. Willie Bailey, Sr. preceded Dorothy in death. Years later, Dorothy married Samuel Hobson. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend and 'ride or die'. She was an inspiration and an encourager of people, young and old.Dorothy will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her one son; Willie Bailey, Jr., four daughters; Joyce Bailey, Norma Tunstall, Karen Bailey-Adams (Andrew) and Lisa Bailey Jackson (Darrin), one sister; DeLinda Plummer (Ralph), Al J. Moore (Lila), Elijah Moore (Frankie) and Roosevelt Moore (Brenda), 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandson. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27th from 10am until service time of 12 Noon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1301 N. Goodlet Avenue. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
