On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, our beloved Dorothy Dimple Jenkins entered into rest with the Lord. She was the eldest of seven children born to Nolan and Dorothy Amelia (Hill) Hollowell. She was born on February 1, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dorothy graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and studied one year at Butler University. She worked as a key punch operator at Fort Benjamin Harrison before getting married and starting a family. This union was blessed with 6 children. Once her children were adults, Dorothy returned to higher education and completed her bachelor's degree at Marian University, graduating with honors.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She served God in multiple ministries, including the choir. She loved God and was dedicated to her faith throughout her life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons, William Jenkins and Kevin Jenkins; her parents Nolan and Dorothy Amelia (Hill) Hollowell, and her brother Nolan Hollowell Jr. She will be fondly remembered by those she loved and touched, including her surviving children: Sharon Jenkins, Nolan (Sharon) Jenkins, Beverly (Christopher) Daniels and Deborah Jenkins; Four brothers, Esley Hollowell, Michael Hollowell, Donald Hollowell and Tommy Hollowell and one sister, Polly (Hollowell) Williams; Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
