Dorothy Harriett Brown-Douglas age 77, passed away January 15, 2016.She was born in Mobile, Alabama and graduated from Central HS and Tuskegee Institute with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics.Dorothy married Carl L. Douglas on June 10, 1964 and they relocated to Indianapolis.She was employed with Head Start for four years and then with Indianapolis Public Schools for 27 years as a Home Economics and Special Education teacher. She obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University. In 1968 she joined Jones Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church where she faithfully served. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, fishing, visiting museums, traveling and sewing. She was also an avid Colts fan and she attended most of the home games.Loving mother of Rev. Tanya Douglas. Also survived by ex-husband, Carl Douglas; brother, Dr. Dallas Williams (Harriett); sister, Eugenia Hobbs (Allen); step-sister, Celestine Johnson; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Williams; grandson, Isaiah Douglas; and many other relatives and friends.Family and Friends Visitation: Friday, January 22, 2016 from 11 a.m. till 12:00 Noon at Jones Tabernacle AME Zion Church, 2510 East 34th Street.
