Donna G. Simmons

Donna Gayle Jenkins Simmons was born on March 16, 1953 in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late Sherman Leroy and May Katherine (Hardesty) Jenkins.  She departed this life peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 5:00 am.

Donna moved to Indianapolis as a teen and made Indianapolis her home.  She attended Arsenal Technical High School.  Being a godly woman, she joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in 2015.

Donna was dutifully employed at Thomas & Skinner Inc. for 38 years, retiring in August 2017.

Donna enjoyed taking pictures, collecting family photos, playing cards, roller skating and dancing.  She was very photogenic as evident by the numerous photo albums she left to cherish her many good times.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman and May Katherine Jenkins, her brother, Sherman Jenkins, Jr., sisters Billy Byrd and Patricia Purnell.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory her loving brothers Pierre Jenkins and Anthony Jenkins; dedicated children, Randy (Candy) Gee, Steven Strode and Luther Spann; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
