Doncella Lorraine (Manna) Askew

Doncella Lorraine (Manna) Askew was born January 25, 1955 in Gary, Indiana to Carl and Allene Manna. She was the second oldest of seven children.

“Dee”, as she was affectionately called, confessed her life to Christ at an early age in Gary, Indiana and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she continually received pastoral services and communion.

She received her education in the Gary, Indiana school system graduating in 1974 from Westside High School. She later graduated from Clark Community College in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“Dee” was known for her affectionate smile, heartwarming charm, welcoming personality and nurturing heart. She was always someone you could count on no matter what the situation may be. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, going to amusement parks to ride all the roller coasters, cooking meals for her family and throwing some of the best house parties.

Doncella gained her Heavenly wings on November 9, 2022 at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 15 days old. She will be truly missed by all who love and care for her. Her grandmother, Daisy Gibson; parents, Carl and Allene Manna; husband, Gralin Anders; brother, Darnell M. Manna “Tommy”; sister, Linda A. Gaines; aunt, Johnnie Morris; and friends, Regina Duncan and Brenda Johnson all preceded her in death.

Doncella leaves to cherish her precious memories: three sons: Willie Askew Sr. (Shanika), Damian Askew and Demetrius Sanders Sr.; nine grandchildren: Tanika, Willie Jr., Demetrius Jr., Donisha, Dai’Vonta, Demerius, Aubree, Domantas and Dallas; two sisters, Zandra Manna and Alberta Manna-Lewis (Robert); two brothers, Robert and Carl Manna; aunt, Mary McKenzie (Bruce); uncle, Lamont Manna; best friend/sister Jackie Randle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
