Dollie June (Phillips) Starkes

Dollie June (Phillips) Starkes was born August 12, 1944, to John and Lenora (Perkins) Phillips in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dollie confessed her faith and accepted Christ at an early age.

She received her education in the Indianapolis Public Schools and attended Crispus Attucks High School.

Dollie worked every year at the Indiana State Fair, 500 Speedway and for Kelly Services.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Dollie was a very happy, caring and loving person. She loved everyone and with a good heart her door was always open to family and friends. She loved playing cards and listening to music. Dollie enjoyed relaxing with a great movie to watch. One of her favorite past times was going to family BBQ’s and taking family trips to the beach.

Dollie June Starkes departed this life on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 77 years. Her parents, John and Lenora Phillips; sister, Evelyn Hurley; brother, Michael Phillips; lifelong partner, Ronald Coleman; grandchildren, Della Starkes and Raymond Jackson Jr. all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Lora Mayfield (Chris); son, Wendell Starkes (Laurie); grandchildren: Dollie Goodman, Arsenio Goodman, Whitney Starkes, Brandie Starkes and Dorothy Starkes; great-grandchildren: Aa’Laysha Goodman, Sahmeer Dodson and Isabella James; a great-great-grandchild, Yahira Goodman; sisters, Deloris and Grace Phillips; brother, James Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
