Doletha Elizabeth (Johnson) Biggins was born in the tropical paradise, Nassau Bahamas on December 10, 1954, to the late parents of Patrick and Patricia (Curry) Johnson. Doletha departed her earthly vessel on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Doletha migrated to the United States in her early teens. She attended Miami Dade County Public Schools—North Dade Middle, Norland Senior High School, and graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School. A natural giver and comforter, Doletha spent many years in the helping profession as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Later in life Doletha married her late husband, Oscar Biggins.

Doletha was a loving mother to four children: Michael Payton, Jr., Vax Payton, Litta’ Payton, and Tameka L. Payton, PhD. Doletha is the eldest sister to Yvonne (Hill) Davenport and George Johnson, Jr (late). She is also the younger sister of Pamela Smith. Anyone who has ever chatted with Doletha knows that she was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren: Keiandra, Jacquise, Amiya, Aja, Jacquan, Ajaré, Addajah, Jhordyn, Jhaniyah, Mykia, and Navia Payton; Anais, Najiyah, Eza, and Aky Payton, Travondra Everett, Travares Payton, and Jamal and Jabre Caldwell; and Dontrell Patterson. Though a proud and devoted grandmother, her newest joys were her two great-grandchildren Travares “Eli” Payton and Keturah Leslie.

Given Doletha’s outgoing and gregarious spirit, it is well-known that she has never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, but she is best known for being the life of every party. In concert with her kindness and willingness to help anyone with anything, she has been affectionately called a “mother to all” by her children. She leaves to cherish her memories her nieces and nephews: Kevin and Keith Martin, Trashonda Mellerson; Anthea Hepburn, St. Clair, Hans, Sandra, and Craig Smith; great-nieces and nephews: Kaden, Kasen, Kevin, Amara Martin; Kayla and Kiley Martin, and Ju’Leah Bearfield and Elijah Mellerson. She also leaves to cherish her close companion Johnnie Kitchen, as well as a host of cousins and friends across the United States and the Bahamas.
