Diana Lynn Johnson

December 4, 1954 — November 24, 2018

Ms. Diana Lynn Johnson sprouted her wings and ascended to heaven at the age of 63 on November 24, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Diana was loved by family and friends and she will be missed but never forgotten. The memories will endure.

Diana was born on December 4, 1954 to William and Gayola Johnson, and both parents preceded her in passing. Her birth was a blessing and she would spend her life touching other lives. She was an inquisitive child and her presence brought electricity and great energy to the household. She was always a step ahead of her parents and siblings who were exhausted trying to keep up with her. As a young girl she knew Jesus Christ and was baptized into faith at First Samuel Missionary Baptist Church.
Diana attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. She later earned an Associate of Arts Degree at San Diego City College. While she spent most of her adult years in Indianapolis, she also lived for an extended period in San Diego, California.
Recently, Diana was inspired by genealogical research that led her to exciting discoveries of her paternal family. This research was therapeutic because it opened a chapter of her life that had been hidden. She often spoke of discovering her grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles. In short, Diana was defined by family and she loved them all.
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by sisters Marsha Ann Coleman (infant) and Joycelon Marie Ross Bradley; step-brothers Patrick Ross, Warren Allen and Willie J.D. Hunter, Jr.; step-sisters Rochelle Ross and Sharon Ross; step-fathers Willie J.D. Hunter; and Prentice Knight.
Left to cherish Diana's loving memory are sons Prentice Jabbar Chambers (fiancé Heather Day) and Jerome Jamar Lewis both of Indianapolis; daughter DeAnna Lynn Dixon of Indianapolis; grandson Nyjah Robert Chambers of Indianapolis; step grandsons JoJo Day and Trey Day of Indianapolis; ; step granddaughter Aireana Day of Indianapolis; brother Robert R. Ross, Jr. (fiancé Cheryl Tatum) of Boonville, Missouri; step-brothers Steve (Vanessa) Allen, Travis Hunter, Richard Hunter, James Ross and David Ross all of Indianapolis; step-sisters Wilma (Frank) Hunt, Linda Ross, Margaret Campbell and Yvonne (Ahmad) Abdur-Rahim of Indianapolis; fiancé Ramsey Jerome Lewis of Indianapolis; and brother-in-law Ransome Bradley of Indianapolis. Also nephews Ransome Bradley and Tyrone Bradley of Indianapolis, Robert Ross (Roxanne) of Dallas, Texas and Carlos Ross of Columbia, Missouri; nieces Tina (Wayne) Bradly Daniels of Indianapolis, Gayla Whitsey of Indianapolis, Rhonda Ross Abney of Apple Valley, California, Monica Ross of Louisville, Kentucky and Nisaa Jones of Indianapolis. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, an uncle, other relatives and many close friends.
