1st Lady Di’Ann Elizabeth Edwards was born on April 13, 1970 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Bruce
Wayne Jones Sr. and Mother Carole Marie Baxter Franklin (Deacon James F Franklin). She was
the product of Indianapolis Public School System attending George Washington High School and
Ball State University.
1st Lady Edwards was united in Holy Matrimony to Donald Bernard Edwards Jr. on August 25,
1990 and to this union was born Donald Bernard Edwards III.
Di’Ann was the proud owner of God’s Little Wonders daycare and worked many years as a
daycare provider. She loved teaching and surrounding herself with the children.
In 1988, Ist Lady Edwards received the precious gift of The Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus
name under the leadership of District Paul C. Otis Sr. at Refuge Temple Revival Center. In 1998
she became 1st Lady Edwards at Church of Glory under the leadership of her husband, Pastor
Donald Bernard Edwards Jr.
1st Lady Edwards was affectionately known to many as Niecey. She enjoyed traveling, spending
time with her husband, her son, and her (grand dog) Jay Jay. She loved watching Lifetime and
her favorite movie was The Color Purple: “you told Harpo to beat me”. She was a first Lady like
none other. To know her was to love her.
1st Lady Di’Ann Edwards transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday August 4, 2020 at the
age of 50 years, 3 months, and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Harold
L Baxter Sr. and Jean D Baxter, parents; Bruce W Jones Sr., Mother Carole Baxter Franklin,
Deacon James F. Franklin, uncles; Don Baxter, Harold “Dewey” Baxter Jr., Nathanial Jones,
nephew; Alexander Blake Brown, cousin; Robert E Jones Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Pastor Donald Bernard Edwards Jr, son,
Donald “Don-E” Bernard Edwards III, brothers; Bruce “Peek” Wayne Jones Jr. (Tiffania), Darrell
“Rippy” Franklin (Shelly), grandmother; Pearlena Atkins (Wisner, LA), mother in- law; Mother
Susan Whitty, fathers in-law; Deacon Joe Whitty, and Donald B Edwards Sr. (Helen), sister inlaw; Crystal Cain, brother in-law; Benjamin Edwards, 4 aunts, 7 uncles, and a hosts of nieces,
and nephew and other loving family members
