Dewitt Walker, one of seven children, was born October 12, 1932 in West Point, Mississippi to the late Anderson and Mary Lou Walker. He accepted Christ at an early age as a teenager.
He was inducted in the United States Army on September 26, 1952 and upon his return on December 19, 1956 he was united in Holy Matrimony to his lifelong partner, Earlene Patrick.
Dewitt joined King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful Deacon and choir member until May 2012.
He was the owner of Dewitt Walker Cement Contractor for over 45 years, retiring due to failing health.
Dewitt was an active member (brother) of Trinity Lodge #18 where he became a Master Mason on May 15, 1968. One of his proudest moments was becoming an Honorary Past Master on July 26, 2014 and a 50 year member on July 28, 2018.
Dewitt’s favorite past time was watching wrestling, scratch off lottery tickets and going to the casino!
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dewitt Walker gained his Heavenly wings on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 89 years. His daughter, Diane K. Walker Stansberry; four brothers: Eddie, George, Adel and Charles Walker; sister, Mary Strong; and son-in-law, Oliver Keith McCray all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 65 years, Earlene; four daughters: Patricia Walker, Brenda Williams (Glen), Tywanda McCray and Denise Walker; grandson, Carl McGinty (Alfarena); granddaughters, Naketa and MaKayla Stansberry; sister, Clara Eldridge; sister-in-law, Fannie Walker; a host of loving family and friends.
