Derrick Lamont Young

Derrick Lamont Young, the son of Isadore Young and Aina Mae Luster, was born on January 18, 1980 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Derrick was Isadore's only son and the youngest of Aina's five children.

He received his diploma from Ben Davis University in 2010. Most recently, he was employed as a forklift driver for Ryder Truck Company.

Derrick had a witty sense of humor, enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Derrick loved children, and although he had none of his own, he treated every child he encountered like they were one of his.

He was always stylish, dressed from head to toe in the latest fashion. You would rarely find him without a matching fitted cap on his head. He was a charming, genuine, and loving young man whose smile would light up a room.

Derrick met the love of his life, Tesha Garrett in June 2003. Derrick was a loving son, brother and friend whose infectious smile and laughter will be missed by all that knew him.
Derrick Lamont Young departed this world on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the age of 38 years, 5 months and 27 days. A loving soul gone too soon. Derrick was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lillie Mae Luster and Thelma Young; grandfather, Witt Young; and uncle, James Luster.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his father Isadore Young (Gertrude); mom, Aina Luster (Mike); brothers, Charles and Lasalle Luster; sister, LaKeresa King; stepsisters: Felicia Williams (Paul), Danette Stephens and Theresa Blake; his loving girlfriend of 15 years, Tesha Garrett; grandfather L. Cannon Luster; aunts: Mary Hill (Jeffery), Ruby Luster, Ezette Miller and Denise Luster; uncles, David and Robert Luster; as well as a host of nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends.

The legacy of Derrick's kind spirit, passion for family, love of cooking, and zest for life will live on through his loved ones.
