Deacon Willie M. Howard

Willie M. Howard was born on January 3, 1929 in Reidsville, North Carolina to John R. Howard and Catherine Simpson -Howard. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.

Willie started his education in Reidsville, North Carolina and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He served in the United States Army for four years and was Honorably discharged.

Willie was united in marriage to Louise on June 18, 1954.  He raised Louise’s two daughters, Jennie and Anna, as his own.  Soon after this union, Velma was born.

Willie became a member of Mt. Helm Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved the Lord with all his heart and trusted His Holy Word.  He loved praising His name and was a faithful worker in the church becoming a Deacon in 1979.

Willie M. Howard departed this life on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 25 days.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Howard; parents; two siblings; and two daughters.

Willie leaves to cherish his precious memory, his daughter Velma; grandchildren: Otto (Willa), Melissa, Yvonne, Lea and Jada (Banji); sister, Bernice Braggs; brother-in-law, James Landers; a host of great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
