Darna Reshell Walker Obituary

Darna Reshell Walker was born on April 08, 1953 in Pembroke, Kentucky. She relocated with her family to Indianapolis at an early age. She was a member of Little Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was called home to be with the Lord on April 09, 2024.

At an early age, Darna was baptized, accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. Shortly after moving to Indianapolis, she attended the IPS school system and graduated from Broad Ripple high school in 1971.

Upon graduating from high school Darna was employed by several retail organizations in the Indianapolis area in different positions. She accepted a position at J.C. Penneys as a cosmetic specialist , where she enjoyed commissioned sales from her “many “ customers and she received many awards and “decorations “from her hard work at J.C. Penneys. After years of service, she was able to retire from J.C. Penneys with a full pension and lifetime benefits.

Darna loved all types of music and enjoyed socializing with her family and friends at different types of gatherings. She surrounded herself with the growth of many plants that she loved and planted.

She was past president of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Kentucky Club. The Club was established in four different cities and reunions were held annually in those cities each year on a rotating basis, honoring the memory and promise of the “founding fathers”.

Darna was preceded in death by her parents, James C. McKoy, and Mildred A. McKoy, her brother, Henry Thomas.

She is survived by her son,

Jamaine(Heather) Walker, two grandchildren,

Makayla Walker,Marissa Walker, and her special friend, Mark Ferrell, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Darna will be forever remembered for her love of family, friends and her passion for life, in the name of God almighty.
