Cora Mae Gray, affectionately known as 'Fast Black', age 68, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016.
Cora was born in Forest, Mississippi to the late Reverend Alonzo Wright, Sr. and Missionary Mary Francis Payton-Wright. At an early age she and her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, here she went to IPS #12 and Harry E. Wood High School. She was raised in church. Cora was employed at Detroit Diesel Allison Transmission until she retired due to her illness. Soon after her retirement, Cora became a foster parent.
Known as 'Fast Black', which she was often called, loved played cards, going to the casino, and taking trips. Cora loved her family and friends, and she also loved family gatherings. Her door was always open if you needed a place to sleep or a meal if you were hungry. She had a loving and caring heart for her family and friends.
On July 14 2016 Cora repented to the Lord and gave her life over to Christ also received the Holy Ghost. The following morning the good Lord called her home.
Cora Mae Gray leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Patricia (Stanley) Moore; step-daughter, Angela Miles; three sisters, Willa Maude (Charlie) Day, Elizebeth Johnson, Deloise Brown; sister-in-law, Teresa Wright and three grandchildren, Tonisha and Toia Hamilton, and Sarah Kolliegbo; three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23rd from 11am until funeral service time of 1pm at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals, 5811 E. 38th Street. Interment will be in Sutherland Park Cemetery.
