Christine B. (Martin) Swanigan

Christine B. (Martin) Swanigan, 78, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016.She was born in Indianapolis to the late Bud and Isadore Martin. Christine graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1955. Throughout her life she had various career opportunities which included Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Lane Bryant. Christine was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Herbert Swanigan on September 14, 1956. To this union three daughters were born, Brenda, Valerie and Beverly. Christine's entire life has been one of service. Her commitment to God and New Haven MBC allowed her to be active in several civic organizations and ministries. Christine was an elegant lady full of life! Out of all her passions, she loved to read and write and she had elegant taste in decorating. She had a very special bond with her daughters and always encouraged them to achieve their dreams. She held the family close to heart and was supportive in whatever they needed. Christine leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.Family and Friends Visitation, Saturday, February 20th from 10am until service time of 12 noon at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, 3219 Schofield Ave. Interment will be in New Crown Cemetery.
