Mr. Charles Williams Overton 'Doggie' the son of the late Millard Overton and Mabel Overton was born on May 6, 1921 in Indianapolis Indiana.
'Doggie' attended Booker T. Washington public school in his early years of life and resided on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana during his lifetime.
'Doggie' professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and reclaimed his hope in Christ prior to his passing.
An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country with distinction during World War II.
'Doggie' retired in May of 1947 after thirty-one years of service with United States Postal Service.
'Doggie' was an ardent fisherman and hunter. He was a dedicated football enthusiast of the Indianapolis Colts. He was a loving and devoted son, father, husband and grandfather. His warm smile and fun-loving personality will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
'Doggie' was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the age of ninety-six years, eleven months and seven days. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie, daughter, Sheila Cook, sister, Mildred Canady, grandson, Dewayne Brown.
He leaves to cherish memory his daughter, Stephanie Walton (Louisville, KY); granddaughters, Rita Taylor, Donna Cook (Louisville, KY), Rosa Barnett (Raleigh, NC), Rhonda Cook; grandson, Henry Leonard Cook; Special Friend, Gerri Foster; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
