Charles Edward Hampton was born June 16, 1945 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Zedrick Hampton and Mollie Hampton-King.
He received his education in the Mount Pleasant, Tennessee schools. He was employed at Kroger Bakery for 30 years.
Charles attended Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Marian J. (Cotton) Hampton, and they shared 29 years together. Charles loved his wife and family.
“Bird” or “Chucky”, as he was lovingly called by family and friends, loved playing cards and was always the life of the party.
Charles Edward Hampton departed this life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the age of 76 years. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Hampton; daughter, Tanya Hampton; sisters, Clentella McLaughlin and Jeanetta Frierson; and brother, James Hampton.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted wife, Marian J. Hampton; sons, Kenneth Hampton (Tamara) and Steve Crawford (Roslyn); stepchildren: Tracey Cotton, Harold Cotton, Darryl Hamilton and Tonita Garrett; sister, Helen Castle; brothers, Albert Hampton (Jean) and William Hampton (Carolyn); twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
