Charles David (Known as Charlie to his family) Janzen, age 58, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2021, in his home.
Charles was known for his hard work ethic, humor, and compassion. He held many jobs throughout his life, but his primary profession in carpentry allowed him to express his talent and passion for woodworking. He was a supportive and loving father and a generous friend. He loved to laugh and crack jokes and had a tender and caring nature to all animals. Charles was born in Chicago and raised in a military family. He spent his younger years moving across different states until settling in Knoxville, Tennessee with his family. He spent the latter half of his life in Indiana but always considered Tennessee his home.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Janzen and Nancy Janzen, and his brother Richard (Rick) Janzen. He is survived by his daughter, Amber Janzen of Indianapolis; siblings, Linda Schmidt of Knoxville, Susan (Mathew) Ehler of Knoxville, Doug Janzen of Tampa, Florida and Michael Janzen, who is currently serving with the US Navy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nephews, Andrew and Bryan Schmidt; nieces, Kayla (John) Darling, and Alisha, Britnay, and Caitlyn Susong. Close friends and family will hold a celebration of life enjoying his favorite meal, steak, at a local restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee on January 8th, 2022.
