Cephas Lewis Bandy, Jr, was born January 20, 1957, in Beckley West Virginia. He was the second child of the union between Frances Maxine Pannell Bandy, and Cephas Lewis Bandy, Sr. Cephas Jr. was 5yrs of age when the family moved to
Indianapolis, Indiana.
He attended Indianapolis Public School #1, and Arlington High School. In High School, he participated in ROTC and upon graduation, he enrolled in the U.S. Army in July 1975. Cephas, Jr. completed Basic Training at Camp Atterbury and attended AIT at Fort Benjamin Harrison. His duty stations included a 3-year tour in Germany. After twenty years of distinguished service, he was honorably discharged on July 1, 1995.
Cephas, Jr. was an avid sports fan. His favorite sport was college football. He never missed a tailgate party to support his team. He was a fun-loving guy and at any event tried to make sure everyone had a good time. Cephas, Jr. also loved to cook. His favorite dish was lasagna and he also enjoying practicing his skills at barbecuing. Cephas, Jr. had a heart for service and helping others. He was a frequent volunteer at the Resurrection Community Church Soup Kitchen.
In 1990 Cephas, Jr. was blessed with his one and only child, Shantel Monique Bandy (Zack Miller). Cephas, Jr. returned to Indianapolis in 1995. He worked in sales for Braden Business Company and later the U.S. Postal Service.
Cephas, Jr. was preceded in death by his brother Dion and his mother Francis. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Shantel (Zack Miller), father Cephas Sr., sister Pier James, nephew Dorian( Tanja) Mays, nieces Kai and Jade Mays, Uncle James (Margaret ) Pannell and a host of loving cousins and friends.
