Mr. Carl Edward Long, the son of the late Ernest Carl Long and Mary Ellen Merriweather Long, was born November 13, 1949 in Clarksville, Tennessee.
He received his elementary education from Cobb Elementary School and later attended Burt High School where he played baseball.
Carl later joined the United States Army where he served his duty in Hawaii and Vietnam and was awarded: The National Defense Service; The Air Medal Combat Infantry Badge; The Vietnam Campaign Medal; The Vietnam Service Medal; The Army Commendation Medal and The Good Conduct Medal before receiving an Honorable Discharge.
He worked in Indianapolis at: Mechanic Laundry; Forum at the Crossing; Krispy Kreme; Walmart and various other jobs, until his illness became terminal.
Carl, affectionately called “Cap”, “Stinky” & “Shorty”, enjoyed the times he spent at church, fishing, playing cards, watching sports, going to the casino and visiting his family and friends. Carl resided with his sister, Frances for over 20 years until he decided to go to Brickyard Nursing facility where he took his last breath.
Carl Edward Long, departed this life for his eternal rest on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Our hearts are saddened, but GOD makes no mistakes. Carl fought the battle of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for several years.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories to his daughter, Yvette L. Mitchell (Tyrell); step-daughter, Zikeyyah V. Perry (Marcus); eight grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; siblings: Ernest L. Long (Claudia), Mary O. Anderson, Frances E. L. Bruce, James A. Long of Clarksville, TN, Beatrice L. Williams, Catherine L. Temple (Arthur) of Clarksville, TN and Dora L. Farley (George) of Clarksville, TN; a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
