**In Loving Memory of Bryan “BJ” Fitzgerald Jr.**
Bryan “BJ” Fitzgerald Jr., born on July 28, 2006, in Chesapeake, Virginia, was a vibrant and adventurous spirit whose life touched many. He was raised in a loving family, cherished by his parents, Bryan and Tamara Fitzgerald. Surrounded by the warmth of his family, BJ was the beloved brother to three sisters: Dajah Peoples, Bria Parker, and Arielle Williams, and two brothers: Malachi and Chaz Fitzgerald.
From an early age, BJ exemplified a zest for life. His childhood was filled with laughter, outdoor adventures, and playful pranks. Whether he was playing soccer, basketball, or football with the Lawrence Township Football League, his adventurous nature shone through. BJ also had a passion for music, which led him to join the school band, where he played the trumpet.
As he transitioned into his teenage years, BJ faced a significant hurdle when he broke his leg during a neighborhood basketball game, playing with friends. Instead of letting this injury deter him, he redirected his focus towards his education, discovering a love for welding during his time at McKenzie High School. His determination and resilience led him to graduate from Lawrence North High School, after which he pursued further education at Lincoln Tech in a welding degree program. BJ had a clear vision for his future—completing his studies and moving to Hampton, Virginia, to kickstart his career as a welder in May of 2025 as a certified welder.
BJ's personality was one of a kind. He was strong, dependable, respectful, and filled with curiosity about the world around him. He had an infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day, and his laughter was a cherished sound among family and friends. BJ's adventurous spirit extended beyond traditional sports; he loved fishing, horseback riding, canoeing, and anything that provided an adrenaline rush—be it motorcycles, cars, or roller coasters.
He shared a special bond with his grandparents- Walter and Phyllis Fitzgerald, Reginald and Sylvia Evans, Herbert and Randy Apple, and great grandmother Lillian Royal, uncles, aunts, and a multitude of cousins and friends who became like family. His positive impact was felt by everyone he met, reflecting the love and warmth he brought into the world. Family was paramount to BJ, and he fostered connections that left lasting impressions on those around him.
Though BJ's time with us was too short, he leaves behind a legacy of joy and inspiration. His memory will continue to live on, reminding us all of the beauty of life, the importance of connection, family, relationships, and the love that binds us together. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light he brought into our lives.
