BRENDA C. MCKINNEY was born on August 24, 1951 to Cardell Collier, Sr. and Emma V. Bass-Collier in Indianapolis, Indiana where she resided most of her life.
Brenda was one of five children. She attended IPS Public Schools for most of her education and graduated from Shortridge High School. At an young age, Brenda confessed her love for Christ with Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Brenda worked for the Fort Benjamin Harrison Service Center as a civil service File Clerk where she retired from. She married young and between two marriages she was blessed with three children. Her first marriage with Felix J. Wooten a daughter Sherrice was born. Her second marriage to Roosevelt McKinney, Sr. Victoria and Roosevelt Jr. were born. Brenda remained married until her husband Roosevelt McKinney, Sr. preceded her in death in 2006.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was easy going, pleasant, and a impressionable person. She was humble, kind and a woman of great strength.
Brenda C. McKinney departed from her earthly life to eternal life on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the age of 77 years old. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her. She is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Roosevelt Sr., two brothers; Cardell Collier, Jr. and Lawrence Collier, one sister
Dorothy Johnson, two daughters; Sherrice (Wooten) Thompson and Victoria (McKinney) Seymour.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Roosevelt McKinney, Jr.; brother, Jerome Collier; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
