Mr. Bobie Johnson Sr. was born on January 29, 1948 in Winterville Mississippi to the late Will Johnson Sr. and Belnora Jackson Johnson. He was the youngest of 13 children. As a teenager Bobie briefly resided in Indianapolis where he completed his freshman year of high school at Arsenal Technical High School. He moved back home to Greenville,Mississippi where he graduated from T. L Weston High School and met his high sweetheart, Nancy Hayden. Bobie and Nancy united in holy matrimony on July 29, 1968. They shared 57 years of love and became the proud parents of fourchildren:Dale, Bobie Jr., Donald, and Andrea. Bobie enlisted in the United States Army where he served the country for 6 years prior to receiving an honorable discharge. During this time he served many duties such as military mechanic,Military Police (MP), and the Army Reserves of which time he and his family became permanent residents of Indianapolis, Indiana. Bobie took up trade courses at ITT Technical Institute and then became employed with Hoosier Coal and Oil for over 10 years. He later began working for Gale Insulation where he remained for almost 30 years until his retirement. Bobie was known for having many skills including roofing, home renovations, and auto repair. He was always willing to help his family and friends, when needed. Bobie was also known for his calm demeanor and funny sense of humor. You could normally find him at home watching sports or westerns but he really enjoyed spending time with his family. He truly loved children and would often refer to them as “critters”. He was loved by many including his nieces and nephews who often referred to him as “Bobie Lee”. Bobie accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. He became a member of Eastern Star Church where he remained a faithful member for many years, until his death. On the morning of May 25,2021,Bobie Johnson, Sr. peacefully departed this earth. He was preceded in death by four sisters;GenetherWilliams, Alice Johnson, Lillie Minor, Sadie Rucker and five brothers;WillJr., Prentiss, Lester, Larless, and Freddie Johnson. Bobie leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Nancy Johnson; sonsDaleJohnson (Shannon), Bobie Johnson Jr., and Donald Johnson (Christy); daughter Andrea Tolliver (Ivan); sisters Mattie Jones of Greenville,Mississippiand Ellawese Morris; brother Lonnie Johnson; 13 grandchildren,4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
