Betty Jean Thomas

Betty Jean Thomas, age 78, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016.Betty Jean, affectionately known as 'Lil' Bit', was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the third of three siblings. She attended Tuscaloosa High School. In 1962 Betty met and married Howard Thomas. Betty worked many years at Stokely VanCamp and Indianapolis Public Schools as a crossing guard.Betty had several hobbies. She loved to plant flowers, and she also had a vegetable garden she'dbeen growing for the past 35 years. 'Lil' Bit' also liked playing cards, going to the casino, fishing and barbecuing.Betty Jean Thomas leaves to cherish her loving memory: daughters, Linda, Mable (Clarence), Wanda (Charles), Betty (Wayne) and Delisa (Elijah); sons, Charles (Van), Alfred and Dexter (Herence), thirty-eight grandchildren, sixty-three great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Saturday March 12th, from 9am until service time of 11am at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals, 5811 E. 38th Street. Internment will be in New Crown Cemetery.
