On October 09, 1943, Miss Bettie Jean Sweeney was born to the parentage of the late Mr. James Sweeney and Miss Dorothy L. Henderson, of Warren County, KY. She attended elementary school in Warren County Public Schools and Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, IN.
At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ. As a young adult she became a member of the 25th Street Baptist Church, and later joined St, John’s Missionary Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN.
Ms. Sweeney retired from General Motors July 1, 2006after 30years of service. She actively contributed to the community in which she lived; and was known for her zest for life and candid nature. Her free spirit and generosity, made her home a place of welcome comfort to all of her neighbors, both young and old.
Ms. Sweeney, without hesitation, answered the MASTER’S call early on Saturday, December 04, 2021. She leaves cherished memories to her two sons, James N. Petty, Sr. (La-Nelda) of Alexandria, VA and Christopher S. Sanders (Ericka) of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren: James N. Petty, Jr. of Little Rock, AR, Jarvis N. Petty (Anastasia) of Antioch, CA, Christopher S. Sanders, Jr. and Lauren M. Sanders of Indianapolis; six great-grandchildren: Izabella J. Petty and Gemma S. Petty of Little Rock, AR, Killian Connolly, Maleah L. Petty, Ava S. Petty and Jahzara P. Petty, all of Antioch, CA; 2 devoted aunts, Anna L. Adams and Lessie M. Tardy of Indianapolis, IN; all of her surrogate children on Oxford Street, and a host of other relatives and friends.
