Bettie Davis (Leavell) Bellamy, the daughter of the late Wallace Leavell and Minnie Lee Thurston, was born March 31,1927 in Todd County, Kentucky. At a young age, Bettie accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board. She was a domestic worker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and planting flowers. She was also a pianist for Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Bettie met and was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life the late Reverend Lee Roy Bellamy.
Bettie Davis Bellamy’s Heavenly Father called her home to be at rest on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 94 blessed years. In addition to her parents and husband, Bettie was preceded in death by one child, Dora Lee (Bellamy) Marsden; grandson, Gary Hoskins II; and siblings: Willie Mae Bell, Robbie Bell, Cora Shanklin, Emma Fugate, Henry W. Leavell, Morris Leavell, Maceo Leavell and Major Leavell.
Mourning, but celebrating her victory in Christ are her children: Barbara Harris, Lois “Tina” Bellamy, Rickie Bellamy (Erma), Joey O’Neal Bellamy, Leroy Bellamy Jr. (Linda) and Terrell Bellamy (Lisa): Bettie will be missed by a cousin who was like a daughter, Alma Kurtz (George); three siblings: Sarah Pope of Louisville, Kentucky, Beulah McIntosh and Gertrude Robinson (Rev. Robinson) both of Chicago, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; plus a host of nephews, nieces, loving relatives and friends.
