Barbara Jean Hutchinson Adams, the middle daughter of Lewis Carter Hutchinson and Mariah Young Hutchinson was born April 25, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Barbara Jean attended Indianapolis Public Schools & Crispus Attucks High school. In Indianapolis, she worked at RCA television factory. Approximately 60 years ago, she moved to Detroit Michigan, where she worked at General Motors until she retired after 28 years, of service.
Barbara Jean was married to Carl Adams and blessed the world with a beautiful baby boy, Gregory L. Adams, who unfortunately passed away in 1974 at the age of 21 years old in Detroit. Before his death, Gregory blessed their family with a grandson, Gregory Adams II (affectionately known as Lil Greg. Other loving children include DeWayne Adams, Angela Mitchell, Andrea Northington.
In 2000 Barbara met the Underwood family in Detroit and quickly became an integral part of the family. Dru and Dre were eight months old (now 22 years old) when “Miss Barbara “started watching them. In 2008 Fallon was a welcome addition to the family. Over time, Ms. Barbara was known as grandma, and she identified Dru Sr. as her godson. She accompanied them on multiple family trips, including Cedar Point, Toledo Zoo, and Disneyworld.
Barbara loved her siblings. She was extremely proud of her baby brother, Rev. Randall Hutchinson and at times would travel all over the country to hear him preach.
As her health failed, Barbara was able to stay in her home due to the love and support given by Dru and Aretha Barnes (ReRe). She transitioned at home on May 4, 2022, surrounded by a loving family.
