A. Thomas Jobe was born on September 26, 1922 in Nolensville, Tennessee. A. Thomas was the middle son of eight children born to Cora Bell Page-Jobe and Wiley Harrison Jobe of Nolensville, Tennessee. He attended grade school in the Williamson County public school system, and attended High School in Franklin, Tennessee, where E. Pitts was the Principal and W.A. Cartwright was his teacher.
A. Thomas professed his hope in Christ at an early age, where he attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Throughout his childhood and into adulthood, he continued his membership at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
A. Thomas was drafted in to the U.S. Army, during World War II in the eleventh grade, where he became a Sergeant, was a Comet Machine Operator, handled Sharpshooter Rifles, and attended both Demolition and Wall Driller School. A. Thomas traveled both in and out of the country during his time in the military. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Medal of Good Conduct, AP Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and a host of other acknowledgements, and honors while enlisted. A. Thomas received an Honorable Discharge in from the U.S. Army in 1945, and returned back to Nolensville, Tennessee and completed high school. A. Thomas took some college courses, and then returned back into the military for a second time; and went into the Air force, serving as a Staff Sergeant prior to his Honorable Discharge.
A. Thomas Jobe later relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where he worked for many years, in a variety of positions that included Insurance Sales, The U.S. Postal Service-Mail Carrier, Parcel Post-Package Delivery, General Contracting/Real-estate- 'Jobe Realty Company' and worked as a Security Guard for Methodist Hospital, and other firms through retirement.
A. Thomas Jobe was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Sarah Elizabeth Jobe, where they met at Methodist Hospital while he worked security, and she worked as a Surgical Technician. They became active members of University United Methodist Church, were members of Gideon's International, and enjoyed spending time with a host of friends, family, and their only daughter, LaWanda.
A. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and siblings (Tennessee): Sammy D. Jobe, Viola P. Jobe-Vanleer, John B. Jobe, Frank Jobe, Laura V. Jobe-Howse, Minnie Jobe- McClain and Eugene Jobe. A.Thomas always enjoyed working his crossword puzzles, traveling to Tennessee to visit family, and watching television.
A. Thomas Jobe leaves to cherish his memory to his daughter, Dr. LaWanda D. Jobe; granddaughters, De'Anna M. Andrew and De'Arra R. Roberts; grandson, Craig L. Steffey II; great-grandchildren: Mekala Alexander, Malaya Flanagan and Prince Maddyx Kendrick; a host of loving family and extended loved ones.
