Arlena McBride was born on December 5, 1929 in Pelahatchie, Mississippi to Sam McBride and Grace Howell and attended the public schools of Mississippi. She professed her love for Christ at an early age and she united with Grace Memorial Missionary Baptist Church over 40 years ago. She loved worshipping and fellowshipping with her church family and served on the Missionary, The Kitchen Ministry, the Grace Senior Choir and the Grace Adult Choir.
Arlena worked as a domestic worker and housewife. She was married to the love of her life, A.D. Harvey, for 68 years and to their union were 14 children.
Arlena was a very smart, witty, sharp-tongued, feisty, courageous loving person with a beautiful smile who enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking care of her family. Christ was always first in her life and her children and grandchildren were a close second. She was a hard worker and loved people and would give the shirt off her back or last dime to help someone in need. She was a blessing to those who came across her path whether they were a friend, neighbor or stranger; many received her home cooked meals, biscuits made from scratch or her famous peach cobbler. Arlena touched many lives and will be greatly missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
