Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Anthony “Tony” Cheesebourough, ascended to his heavenly home on October 2, 2021, at the age of 65, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana with loved ones by his side. He brought light to every place and every person he knew.
Anthony “Tony” Cheesebourough, was born January 9th, 1956 to Mr. and Mrs. George F. Cheesebourough, Sr. Tony enlisted in the Navy at a very young age. He bravely served our country before being honorably discharged due to an injury. Tony attended Phillips Temple CME Church, where he rededicated his life and his gifts to God, and served faithfully every Sunday as a Guitarist.
He was a lover of learning and never failed to apply his knowledge to help and inspire each person met.
Tony LOVED music, and is a world reknowned musician. He discovered his passion and began playing instruments at the age of 12. He would play any instrument that was granted to him while walking home after school. This led to him being a mastermind at music, playing over 10 instruments. The rest is HISTORY; sharing his gift from family gatherings, to your local night event, and across seas as far as Japan.
Tony was a member of the The Tony Cheesebourough Band, Sugarfoot Ohio Players, Cold Fusion and several other bands near and dear to his heart over his life and career. Tony has opened for many famed acts including Kem, Ringo Starr, Najee, and many others. He never met a guitar he didn’t want to strum, a lyric he didn’t want to hum, or a tune he didn’t want to improve. He will be forever a staple in the Indiana Musical scene.
At the time of his death Tony was planning a life with Ms. Michelle Anderson. They anticipated spending many more years together; splitting time between Indiana and Colorado.
Tony is survived by his children and stepchildren Taniesha M. Groves, Angela R. Majors, Casey Q. Eaglin (Kenesha Eaglin), Araka E. Bell neé Cheesebourough (Dorian M. Bell I), Tona N. Cheesebourough, Anthony J. Cheesebourough, Courtney K. Cheesebourough, Amber Smith, Meagan Orr née Cheesebourough (Michael Orr), Codi K. He was preceded in death by his son Anthony “Lil Tony” Cheesebourough and his loving brother, Freddie Cheesebourough.
While we know that our lives will never be the same without him, we will continue to honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullest and appreciating each moment we have; just as he did.
Tony will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a navy veteran, a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather, champion of all things musical, and a new and improved version of himself each time you saw him. He was a disciple, a son, a father, a brother, a friend, a servant, a musician, and most of all-a gift.
We proudly salute Mr. Anthony Cheesebourough
