Annie BeaJohnson was born May 7, 1933 to the late Ruth and Pat Tells in Madison,Georgia. Annie retained her southern roots even though her family relocated toChicago. Annie always consideredherself a ‘Georgia Peach.'
Annie wasthe product of the Chicago Public School System, but many of her life lessons werethe result of strong southern family traditions and values. She was employed bythe United States Postal Service and Tinley Park Mental Health Facility fromwhich she retired.
Annie wasunited in Holy Matrimony to Thomas Eugene Johnson on May 24, 1949; this unionwas blessed with three sons, Tyrone, Anton, and Thomas.
AlthoughAnnie was short in stature, she was big on discipline, respect, truth, andright and wrong. Annie was known for her personality, spirit and her commandingpresence, which made her, appear larger in life than her stature ever did. Annieprofessed her faith at a young age and believed in the power of prayer. Sheprayed a lot of folks through rough times, places, obstacles and challenges.Despite her arms being too short to box with God, she managed to reach, touch,and lift up many others in her lifetime.
Annie lovedto cook and her southern roots were clearly evident in her baking and cookingskills. She set high standards which earned her praise and much respect fromher family and friends. Annie worked hard at whatever she did and she alsoplayed just as hard. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with herfriends and family.
Anniedeparted this life, November 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband,Thomas and loving sisters Mattie and Bessie.
Annie wasa loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She leaves to cherish hermemory, sons Tyrone (Janiece), Anton, and Thomas (Audrey); 18 grandchildren, 14great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces andnephews, relatives and friends.
