Andrea Gail Rodgers (Thompson) was born to Howard Thompson and Gladys Chandler (Turner) in Atlanta, Georgia on September 20, 1950. She attended Crispus Attucks High School and Mr. Glenns Beauty College.
“Gail”, as her family and childhood friends referred to her as, professed her faith in Christ at an early age. Andrea served as a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Mount Olive Baptist Church is under the leadership of Dr. Carl Z Liggins Sr., Pastor.
She worked at Autoliv, as a quality assurance associate. She also worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant utilizing her passion for caring for others, retiring in 2012.
Andrea and her former spouse, Kenneth Thompson Sr. raised two children together, Angela Love and Kenneth Thompson Jr., whom they adored.
She married Reuben Rodgers on February 14, 2002 and gained an additional daughter, Lauren Rodgers and mother-in-law, Jesse Mae Bilberry. She also received a new nickname “Drae”.
Andrea had a huge heart, a witty sense of humor and a beautiful smile to match. She was compassionate, caring and she never met a stranger. She loved her blended family with fifteen brothers and sisters. Andrea was known as a true Diva with her love for fashion and style. She loved watching reality shows and soap operas, shopping, traveling and cooking for her family.
Andrea Gail Rodgers earned her heavenly wings on Monday, May 15, 2023, at home surrounded by her family at the age of 72 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Thompson and Gladys Chandler (Turner); granddaughter, Te’Andra Thompson; brothers, Lee Sutton and Larry Thompson; sister, Geneva Hamby; and brothers-in-law, Billy Johnson Sr. and Benjamin Rodgers.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband, Reuben Rodgers; children: Angela Love, Kenneth Thompson Jr. (Samantha Hendrix) and Lauren Rodgers; grandson, Kalvin Thompson; sisters: Denise Johnson, Shelia Sutton, Francine Hooten (Michael Sr.), Theresa Sutton and Barbara Thompson-Stewart; brothers: Marvin Turner, Larry Sutton, Michael Sutton, Curtis Sutton, Vincent Sutton, Steven Sutton and Bobby Thompson; mother-in-law, Jesse Mae Bilberry; aunt, Alma Jo Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends.
