Alberta Moore was born December 13, 1933, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the daughter of Ollie and Linnie Thomas. She was raised by her loving grandmother, Lucile Shaw Thomas.
She was the most determined woman that anyone could ever meet. She dedicated her life to raising her four boys, instilling in each one of them the importance of hard work and perseverance. Her boys were the light of her life. She retired from N.K. Hurst Co. and was a faithful member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. In her free time, she enjoyed walking, watching daytime soaps, or “stories” as she called them, court shows, and doing word search puzzles. She loved to cook, and her family loved her signature dishes, especially her greens, spaghetti dinner, sweet potato pie, and famous banana pudding.
Alberta transitioned from her earthly life on February 22, 2024, at the age of 90 years with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ollie and Linnie Thomas, her brothers; and sister Inez Thomas Foster.
Alberta’s voice will truly be missed, and her memories will forever live in the hearts of her family. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: sons, Leroy (Louise) Moore, Dennis (Patricia) Moore, Abe (Tina) Moore Jr., and Robert (Melanie) Moore, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
