Aaron Damon Bailey, the second of eight siblings, was born on December 13, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Marietta Odessa Bailey and Robert Anderson Parrish. Aaron was also blessed with two bonus fathers, Reverend Edward Gurnell Sr. and Carl W. Bailey Sr.
He completed his primary and secondary education at Indianapolis Public School #44 and graduated from Shortridge High School.
Certified computer training was beneficial and allowed Aaron to be hired at Bank One, which is now Chase Bank, until his health brought about retirement.
His Christian journey led him to become a member and Elder of Alpha and Omega The Church of The Living God under the Pastoral leadership of Overseer Michael G. Swanson.
On May 15, 1992, Aaron was united in Holy Matrimony to Janet Latrice West. He was crazy about her cooking, especially her banana pudding and sweet potato pie!
A loving husband and father, Aaron enjoyed family, friends, church and music! Never one to complain, he always had a smile, letting you know how genuinely happy he was to see you and share his music with you. His family and childhood friends called him by his nickname, “Pete”. It could easily have been “Dancin’ Pete” because music was in his soul! His favorite song for his wife was “Baby Hold On To Me” by Gerald Levert featuring Eddie Levert.
Family gatherings was one of his favorite past times as you always knew Pete would bring the music! Fashion was not beyond his reach either. When he came steppin, you can be sure he would wear his suits with the long coats, always looking sharp.
Aaron Damon Bailey departed this life on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the age of 67 years. His parents; one brother, Carl W. Bailey Jr.; and one sister, Lenita Bailey Lewis all preceded him in death.
Pete left us all with so many happy memories and we know he left some with you. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Janet Latrice Bailey; daughter, Shane’e Diana Bailey; sons: Michael Telfair (Alicia), Damon Byrd, Ikeem Wilson and Quyumba Wilson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Slim Goody (Sharon); sisters, Marietta Gurnell, Starice Bailey-Fox, Geneva Evans (James), Casita Moore and Melinda Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
